The Verge:

Indie.io, which offers a platform to help independent game developers publish their titles, is launching a new subscription service called Indie Pass. The service will cost $6.99 per month and have more than 70 titles, including indie.io’s Echoes of the Plum Grove and games from the Fire Emblem-like Dark Deity series. Indie Pass launches on PC on April 13th.

Honestly, this isn’t an awful idea — subscription services have shown themselves as a viable money maker for developers, and the idea of the value being spread out to developers based on gameplay time spent is a clever one.

The key for me, however, will be…

  • Finding games on the service that interest me
  • Seeing how well the whole experience runs on Steam Deck, if it can run on Steam Deck

Just the same, I think this is a great idea, and I wish all parties the best of luck here. If you’re interested and want to check out the launch library, you can sign up here.
