Melanie Goodfellow / Deadline:
DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation are partnering on a series adaptation of Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta’s best selling DC comic book series Absolute Batman.
The partners announced the upcoming show at a joint presentation at the Annecy International Film Festival on Thursday, hosted by Warner Bros. Animation Sam Register, with Peter Safran, DC Studios Co-Chairman and Co-CEO alongside James Gunn, joining him on the stage.
Absolute Batman writer Writer Snyder will serve as executive producer and showrunner while artist Dragotta is producer on the new animated show.
Let’s be honest, this was a when not an if situation, given how incredibly popular the comic has been since it launched in Fall 2024.
I very much look forward to seeing the response of the general public to this version of Batman, as the whole concept skews the character differently — Martha Wayne lived, he didn’t grow up with money, oh, and he’s large. Very large.
