The “Darkwing Duck” reboot has been ordered to series at Disney+, Variety has learned.
You’re not wrong if you’re thinking you heard that this was coming ages ago — it was! The Seth Rogen produced project was announced to be in production years ago, and only now has been picked up.
Here’s the concept for this one:
For the last 35 years, Darkwing Duck has been trapped in his worst nightmare: an alternate world that’s never heard of his superhero exploits. Now a rebellious teen named Duckie who knows all about his heroic past shows up to pull this ego-fueled vigilante back into battle. Together, this unlikely duo will get dangerous to fight old enemies like Negaduck and Megavolt and reunite with allies Launchpad, Gosalyn and Morgana to save the entire universe.
I don’t remember this lore of an alternate universe being in the mix — minus that episode with a crazy Dark Knight Returns style Darkwing Duck — so I guess this is brand new for the series.
The voice cast is stacked, too:

It’s odd that Jim Cummings isn’t returning as the lead role, and I’m not sure about Rogen as Launchpad, but otherwise? Golden.
I do wonder — will this connect to the newer Ducktales reboot? And if so, will we see Lin Manuel Miranda’s Gizmoduck?
