I never was one to really get behind the “shit on Ben Affleck bandwagon”, but I have to say, since he’s transitioned to being behind the camera, Affleck has done amazing work.
Gone Baby Gone was absolutely gut wrenching drama, The Town was a solid (if slightly derivative) crime thriller, and now with Argo, he seems to be aiming for the sarcastic heist film, while juxtaposed with the deathly serious Iran hostage crisis.
It’s a hard mix to nail, but this trailer hits all of the right beats, and with a cast including John Goodman and Bryan Cranston, I’m extremely excited.  And if you know the real history behind this story, comic fans will have a reason to be very excited. I won’t spoil it for those coming in clean to this, however.
