Sony State of Play June 2026 Thoughts

Earlier today, Sony presented their latest State of Play event, their semi-regular video showcase of upcoming games, a’la Nintendo’s Directs. Given the June time frame, this was a jam packed one, basically taking the place of what they’d reveal during E3, were that still an active trade show and not something left to our memories.

I’ve embedded the full presentation below, but also pulled all the trailers, as you can see beneath. Enjoy!

Marvel’s Wolverine

Continues to look good, but the level of gore is almost comical. I loved the Spider-Man games, so this should be a similar experience. Nice to see that Jean Grey will be in it.

Marvel Tōkon Fighting Souls

The reveal of the Knights of Doom team was pretty cool, including a sick re-design for Green Goblin and, oddly enough, Carnage and not Venom?

Rayman Legends Retold

Looks gorgeous, but so did the original version. Not sure if I get the point in a new release of this game, 3D or not.

Bancho the Chef

I cannot say I had a Dave the Diver prequel on my expectation list.

Kemuri

Finally! The game from UNSEEN! This looks stylish as HELL! I’m VERY interested in this. Glad to see Ikumi Nakamura reemerge.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

I really adored the most recent trilogy of Tomb Raider games. This appears to bridge the gap between those and the 90’s style. I could be into this.

The Lost Wild

Okay, so it’s an indie first person exploration game set in not-quite Jurassic Park. I could be into that.

Phantom Blade 0

Looks great, but my skillset and carpal tunnel cannot embrace a Souls-like. Alas. More to come this Summer.

Dune: Awakening

If you’re into both Dune and survival games, this probably is your shit. I’m only into half of those. The reception on PC was decent, so I could see people stoked on a PS5 release.

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered

People sure do love themselves some Dynasty Warriors games.

No Rest For The Wicked

They say Souls-like, I say I can’t. Alas.

Onimusha: The Way of the Sword

Capcom’s remarkable 2026 looks to continue. I’m so glad to see them back on top.

Silent Hill: Townfall

It’s more Silent Hill and it hits in the Fall for Spooky Season. What more could you ask for?

Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve

I’ve never gotten into Ace Combat. I don’t think this is the one that’s going to change that.

Stuntman: Hollywood

You know what could’ve made the PS2 classic Stuntman even better? Actual movie licenses. Here you go.

ILL

I legit thought this was going to be for a remake of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, it looked so much like the prologue of that game. Also funny? Can show ALL the gore. No dongs tho’.

Control: Resonant

I LOVED Control. I want, no, NEED this game to be great.

Marathon: Season 2

There was a price error earlier today on the PS Store for Marathon, enough for me to pick it up. Will Sony let us keep it? We’ll see. I’d been wanting to check this out, the combo of the deal and a new season (which starts today) may be enough. Even though I’ve got 007 First Light and LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight to play through…

Until Dawn 2

I never played the first, so this left me cold. Cool, I guess?

God of War: Laufey

The worst kept secret in gaming confirmed, as we’ve got a Faye focused God of War spin-off. Gameplay looks good, but goddamn it’s unnerving how well they captured Deborah Ann Woll’s likeness.

Final Verdict

For me?
