Netflix / YouTube:
Only in theaters February 12.
Academy Award–nominated filmmaker Greta Gerwig brings C. S. Lewis’ beloved story The Magician’s Nephew to the screen for the first time in a sweeping adventure that invites dreamers of all ages to experience the creation of Narnia.
Finally, we get to see what Greta Gerwig’s Narnia looks like, and wow, I wasn’t expecting this.
Full disclosure — I didn’t read the books growing up, I only have the two Disney Narnia films under my belt. But this feels like a hybrid of 70’s rock, Doctor Who, and just pure epic fantasy storytelling.
She’s come a long long way from Lady Bird.
And this is the first Netflix movie in a long while that feels like an Actual Movie. (Shy of Rian Johnson’s Knives Out sequels.)
Definitely going to make the effort to see this in the contractually mandated theater run.
